Message from President Richardson on Haitian Relief efforts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 22, 2010

Message from the President

Over the past several days, we have all witnessed the near destruction of one of our neighboring countries, Haiti. The recent devastating earthquake, described as the worst in 200 years, has inflicted unimaginable pain on the people of that country with tens of thousands dead or missing. Our hearts cry out for the people of Haiti as they struggle with the lack of basic needs such food, water and medical help even while searching for loved ones amidst the rubble where buildings once stood.

To our students of Haitian descent, we know that there are few words that can lend encouragement at this time. Please know that your Morgan family joins with you in prayer and support for the well being of your loved ones. We stand ready to assist in any way that we can.

I am today issuing an urgent appeal to our alumni, faculty, staff and student body for monetary contributions to the Haiti earthquake relief fund. President Barack Obama has asked all Americans to do what we can to help. Please visit www.whitehouse.gov to learn how you can assist.

"But for the grace of God..."

Sincerely,

Earl S. Richardson
President
