Free Tickets to the MFAC Follies Extravaganza
Where can you see entertainment at its best that includes tributes to Billie Holiday, Langston Hughes, Bert Williams and the King of Pop, Michael Jackson? And features local celebrities? And where can you get FREE TICKETS to this extravaganza? At the Murphy Fine Arts Center on June 5th!
On June 5, 2010 at 7:00 PM, the MFAC Follies Extravaganza (a.k.a. “The Follies”) comes to Baltimore This show of shows is a large-scale variety show—with a modern twist. There will be some “old stuff” and some new stuff, with all types of performances: singing, acting, spoken word, musicians, dancers (of all types—including steppers). And it’s FREE.
Integrated into the big show are tributes to iconic performers: singer/songwriter, Billie Holiday; writer/poet, Langston Hughes; Vaudevillian comedian, singer, recording artist (and the 1st African American performer in the Ziegfield Follies), Bert Williams, and the “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson.
The event showcases Baltimore’s best talent—including local “celebs”: Congressman Elijah Cummings performing Langston Hughes’ “Harlem Sweeties,” Dr. Eric Conway (Director of the acclaimed, Morgan State University Choir) performing Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” Dr. Hollie Hood-Mincey (and her celebrated Singing Sensations Youth Choir).
FREE tickets are available at the Murphy Fine Arts Center Ticket office and the University Student Center Ticket office if picked up before the day of the show. On June 5th, tickets will be $5 each.
